Appenzellar-Buchanan Dance Studio

Before having a dedicated dance studio, members of Wilson College's Orchesis danced in the Edgar Room, outside, and in the dining hall.  The Davidson Dance Studio, located on the second floor of McElwain-Davidson Hall was established by Professor Frances A. Bowden in 1958[?].  The studio received a major overhaul in 2001 when a new springy floor (hardwood installed over dense foam, airspace, and metal springs where the floor contacts its support), mirrors, barre, sound system, air conditioning, lighting, and black velvet curtains to hide the additions for performances.  The renovations to the studio were made possible by Jean M. Appenzaller '47.
